About Hollyhocks Summer Carnival

The essences of cottage gardens are the towering hollyhocks with their frilly large flowers. A perfect example of this classic English type is our newly featured Hollyhock Summer Carnival. Besides the blooms along the main stem, there are also many side stems with blooms that give these plants even more color. Of course, the hummingbirds love Hollyhocks, too.

Planting and Growing Hollyhocks

Make sure your Hollyhocks “harden off” before planting to prevent shock. Choose an area that is mostly sunny to part shade. Prepare your planting hole by turning the soil at least a shovel size deep and wide and be sure the hole is filled with plenty of organic matter for best results. Plant deep enough to cover the top of the root ball. Press down firmly on the soil and then water it in. Consider fertilizing once or twice a season.
